DOES GRACE EXCUSE SIN?

Scripture Focus: “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound…” Romans 6:1-2.

In Genesis 4:23-24, Lamech, Cain’s descendant, misused God’s grace. Cain received mercy despite killing Abel. God said he would not be killed, but Lamech assumed that, like Cain, he could kill and still be forgiven. He thought that even without repentance, he had access to God’s forgiveness and mercy. He misinterpreted the idea that “where sin abounds, grace abounds more” to justify his actions.

God’s grace isn’t a free pass to continue sinning. It’s meant to bring us closer to God and give us the power to overcome sin. Misusing grace misrepresents God and leads us away from His purpose for our lives.

Prayer: Father, help me not to take your grace for granted in Jesus’ name. Amen.
