Scripture Focus: Genesis 13:5-7; 2 Peter 2:7
Before Abram and Lot became wealthy, they lived together without conflict. But as their
possessions increased, strife arose between them, forcing them to separate (Genesis 13:6-7).
This is a sobering reminder of how material wealth, when not managed with wisdom, can divide
even believers. Lot was a righteous man (2 Peter 2:7), yet money still created tension between
him and his uncle.
Prosperity is not wrong, but when it begins to dictate our relationships and decisions, it becomes
dangerous. The love of money can subtly erode unity, leading to unnecessary separations. As
Christians, we must guard our hearts against prioritizing wealth over godly relationships. True
riches are found in peace, contentment, and obedience to God—not in possessions that can
fade away.
Prayer: Lord, help me to handle prosperity with wisdom. Keep my heart free from the love of
money and focused on what truly matters. Amen.
