Scripture Focus: Genesis 14:14; 1 Corinthians 9:25
When Abram went to rescue Lot, the Bible says he took 318 trained men from his household
(Genesis 14:14). Scripture could have simply said he took soldiers, but it specifically
emphasizes that they were well-trained. Even though God was going to give him victory, Abram
did not go into battle unprepared. He fought with both faith and wisdom.
As believers, we must understand that spiritual training is important, but so is preparation. Faith
in God does not mean neglecting discipline, learning, or growth. Abram trained his men before
the war came, not during the battle. Likewise, we must train ahead, prepare ahead, and build
strength before challenges arise. When the battle comes, only those who have trained will stand
firm.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be spiritually and mentally prepared for the battles ahead. Teach me to
train, grow, and equip myself while trusting in Your victory. Amen.
