A New Name A New Identity

Scripture Focus: Genesis 17:3 to 5; Second Corinthians 5:17

After years of living with Ishmael the product of human effort God appeared again and Abraham fell facedown in worship. This moment was more than just reverence. It was surrender. The weight of past mistakes the striving of self effort and the years of silence were met with God’s unchanging promise. And then something powerful happened. God changed his name.

Abram became Abraham. His old identity tied to human attempts was replaced with a divine identity rooted in God’s covenant. This is the same for us in Christ. The law kept men striving but grace gives a new name a new heart and a new purpose. God does not just restore. He renames redefines and realigns us with His promise.

Prayer:

Father I lay down every false identity I have embraced. Rename me according to Your purpose and help me walk in the identity You have given me. Amen.
