Scripture Focus: Genesis 18:1 to 8; James 4:10
Shortly after his life changing encounter with God in Genesis 17 Abraham displayed remarkable humility in Genesis 18. A man who had just been called the father of many nations referred to himself as a mere servant in verse 3. His posture before the three visitors revealed a heart that had been truly transformed by his encounter with God.
Abraham ran to meet them bowing low to the ground. He pleaded with them to stay and refresh themselves. He personally chose the best calf and ensured a lavish meal was prepared for them. He stood by them while they ate ready to serve in any way. This is what true encounters with God produce. Not pride but deep humility.
Not entitlement but a servant heart. Abraham did not see his new identity as a reason to be served but as a reason to serve even more.
Prayer:
Lord keep my heart humble. No matter how much You bless me may I always remain a servant before You and before men. Amen.
This is what true encounters with God produce.
