Scripture Focus: Genesis 26:20 to 22; Hebrews 12:14
Isaac did not argue over the wells the herdsmen claimed. He moved on quietly and kept digging
until he found Rehoboth. This peace-loving posture mirrored Abraham’s earlier decision not to
fight Lot over land. Both men valued God’s presence above possessions. In response, God
appeared to Isaac, just as He had to Abraham. Scripture says, “Follow peace with all men and
holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” When you choose peace, you position
yourself to encounter God.
Material things will fade. But those who refuse to strive for them receive something far greater,
something eternal. Isaac later found a well of running water, something new and alive. This is a
prophetic picture of the living water Jesus promised in the New Testament, the Holy Spirit within
us, a well that never runs dry. That kind of reward only comes to those who let go of worldly
striving. If you choose peace over possession, God will give you what truly matters. What
comes from heaven cannot be stolen. Let go of what fades. Seek what remains.
Prayer:
Lord, help me follow peace with all people. Let me receive what truly lasts. Amen.
