Guard Your Spiritual Eyesight

Scripture Focus: Genesis 27:1 to 2; Deuteronomy 34:7
“And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not
see…” (Genesis 27:1). Isaac’s physical blindness reflected something deeper, he could no
longer discern spiritually. He could not tell the difference between Esau and Jacob. This was not
just about old age; it was about a loss of sensitivity. By contrast, the Bible says of Moses that
even at one hundred and twenty years, “his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.”
(Deuteronomy 34:7). Moses remained spiritually sharp until the very end.

Spiritual blindness is more dangerous than physical blindness. When you lose the ability to
discern what is true, what is of God, and what is not, you become vulnerable to deception. Isaac
was easily tricked because he could not see. You must fight to keep your spiritual eyes open,
through prayer, the Word, and constant dependence on the Holy Spirit. Do not grow dull. Do not
assume age guarantees depth. Stay alert. Stay discerning.
Prayer:
Lord, keep my spiritual eyes open. Help me to discern clearly and walk in truth always. Amen.
