Do Not Do Right the Wrong Way

Scripture Focus: Genesis 27:5 to 10; Romans 12:17
Rebekah saw that Isaac was about to give the blessing to Esau, contrary to what God had
already spoken. But instead of confronting Isaac or seeking God in prayer, she resorted to
deception. Her actions helped Jacob receive what was his, but in the wrong way. This is a
warning: doing the right thing the wrong way still makes it wrong.
Rebekah once sought God when there was trouble in her womb. Now, she made no inquiry.
She just acted. Isaac was wrong for ignoring God’s instruction. Rebekah was also wrong for
manipulating the outcome. Both were led by emotion, not submission to God. This teaches us
that when your spouse or leader is doing something wrong, you are not licensed to respond with
more wrong. Pray. Speak the truth in love. Stay in alignment with God. Wives must be
discerning. Husbands must be watchful. Both must stay anchored in obedience. God’s promises
are not fulfilled by fleshly tactics. Walk in the Spirit. Honor God’s way, not just His will.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to honor You in method and motive. Let me never do right in the wrong way.
Amen.
