Scripture Focus: Genesis 27:41 to 46; Ecclesiastes 7:8
Isaac and Rebekah began their journey with strong spiritual foundations. Isaac prayed for a
wife. Rebekah inquired of the Lord during her pregnancy. Their story started with God at the
center. But toward the end, their home was full of conflict. Isaac favored Esau. Rebekah plotted
with Jacob. Esau wanted to kill Jacob. Jacob had to flee. The same couple that once sought
God in unity had now become a house divided.
What went wrong? They forgot the foundation that held them together. There was no record of
Isaac praying before sending Jacob away for marriage. The man who once sought God for
direction now acted passively. Rebekah, once prayerful, now manipulated. This shows us that it
is not enough to start well in marriage, ministry, or life. You must finish with the same fire,
prayer, and dependence on God. Many begin strong but drift slowly into disorder. Let this be a
warning and a call to return. Start well, but more importantly, end well. Let the God of your
beginning remain the God of your end.
Prayer:
Lord, help me not only to start with You but to finish strong and faithful to the end. Amen.
