Bury it!

Scripture Focus:
“And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand… and Jacob hid them
under the oak which was by Shechem.” Genesis 35:4

Those idols were expensive. They could have been sold or traded. But Jacob didn’t. He buried
them. That’s what true repentance looks like; total disconnection. Some things God asks you to
part with are not necessarily cheap or useless, but they are deadly to your destiny. When God
says let go, don’t sell it. Don’t store it. Don’t pass it on. Bury it.

If you sell it, you’re empowering someone else to sin with what God asked you to destroy.
You’re becoming a channel for another’s fall. That seductive dress, that provocative music, that

ungodly movie collection, delete them. Not just from your main screen but from your recycle bin
too. Burn the bridge.

Coming to Bethel is coming into the light. You don’t drag shadows with you. You can’t ask for
revival and keep returning to Shechem’s possessions. If you’re done, be done. If you’re turning
back, turn completely. Delete her number. Block that access. Move locations if you must. God
honours radical obedience.

Prayer:
Lord, help me never to rationalize sin or cling to anything You’ve asked me to release. Give me
courage to bury what must die. I want to walk in true freedom. Amen.
