God Is the Reason

Scripture Focus:
“And they took him, and cast him into a pit. And the pit was empty, there was no water in it.” –
Genesis 37:24
Joseph had walked over sixty miles to find his brothers. He was tired, hungry and alone when
they threw him into a deep pit. Historians describe that pit as thirty feet deep, lined with stone
and normally filled with water. But at that very moment, it was dry. The pit should have drowned
him or crushed his bones. But it didn’t. Why? Because God made sure it was dry.
That’s the power of divine preservation. The pit was real, the betrayal was painful, but Joseph
lived because God had a plan. The pit may look like the end, but with God it is only a bend. You
may be surrounded by hard places and thrown into deep, dark spaces. But God will not let that
pit consume you. He will turn what was meant for harm into the very soil for your rising.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for preserving me in situations that should have destroyed me. Help me to
trust You even when I do not understand. Amen.
