when there’s no one to look up to

Scripture Focus:
“And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to
prosper in his hand.” – Genesis 39:3
Joseph had every excuse to give up or go wayward. He had no spiritual mentor in Egypt, no
church, no older brother to imitate, and no parent to correct him. Yet, he thrived. He didn’t let the
absence of a role model become his excuse for failure. Instead, he lived like someone who
knew God was watching.
Joseph also didn’t treat Potiphar’s business carelessly because it wasn’t his own. He handled it
with integrity, diligence, and ownership. That excellence got him promoted. Many people treat
what belongs to others with disrespect and laziness, expecting that when they have their own,
they’ll do better. But that’s false. Your present behaviour is the seed for your future. Be faithful
where you are now, even if it is not your dream position. Excellence is not location-dependent.

God is watching. Men are watching. And your promotion is tied to what you do in secret and
how you treat what belongs to others.
Prayer:
Father, help me to be faithful and excellent even when no one is watching, in Jesus’ name.
