Scripture Focus: “Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the
dungeon…” Genesis 41:14
Pharaoh had every reason to act like he had it all figured out. He was the most powerful man in
Egypt, yet when he had dreams he couldn’t understand, he humbled himself and asked for help.
That is what it means to remove your sandals. It is the posture of heart that lets go of pride,
position, or past achievements in order to receive help. Many today wear the sandals of pride
and refuse to admit weakness, but Pharaoh didn’t. He was open, vulnerable, and willing to
listen.
True humility leads to help. Pharaoh welcomed Joseph from prison without bias. He didn’t
despise his background or his clothes. He listened and gladly received the interpretation. And
when Joseph’s words made sense, he acted. Some people miss divine answers because of
pride, prejudice, or status. But Pharaoh’s humility saved Egypt. May we lead in such a way that
we will be humble enough to ask for help, and wise enough to follow divine counsel even when
it comes from unlikely places.
Prayer: Lord, help me remove every pride that blocks Your help. Teach me to lead with humility
and receive wisdom from anyone You choose.
