Scripture Focus: Genesis 47:20…23
“And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh… Then Joseph said unto the people,
Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh…”
Joseph had access to unimaginable wealth during the famine; land, money, livestock, and
influence, but he never diverted a portion to enrich himself or his family. Every acquisition was
credited to Pharaoh, not to his own account. This kind of loyalty and integrity is almost unheard
of in a world where people often exploit their position for personal gain. Joseph saw himself as a
steward, not an owner, and he understood that faithfulness to his assignment was more
valuable than any temporary fortune.
In our time, many are placed in positions where contracts, funds, and opportunities pass
through their hands. The temptation to take advantage can be overwhelming, yet God calls us
to a higher standard. Real promotion and lasting honour come from being trustworthy with what
belongs to others. If Joseph could be loyal to Pharaoh, how much more should we be loyal to
God and the organisations, ministries, and people we serve? Integrity is the true measure of
greatness, and God still rewards those who will not trade their faithfulness for fleeting riches.
Prayer: Lord, make me faithful in every position of trust, and keep my heart pure from greed.
Amen.
