You Can Bounce Back

Scripture Focus: Genesis 49:19
“Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.”
Jacob’s words over Gad painted a picture of both challenge and triumph. The tribe of Gad
settled east of the Jordan River, a location that left them open to enemy attacks. Indeed, history
records that they were often the first to face invading forces. Yet, God had placed in them the
heart of warriors. In 1 Chronicles 5:18–22, we read of their victories over greater armies, and in

1 Chronicles 12:8–15, Gadite warriors are described as lion-faced men of unmatched skill. Even
when enemies pressed them hard, they always had the final word in battle.
This prophecy reminds us that your starting position or present vulnerability does not determine
your ultimate outcome. In Christ, you may be pressed but not crushed, attacked but never
defeated. The key is to stay in the fight until the end, for victory is assured to those who endure.
Gad’s story shows that even if the enemy gains the first strike, with God on your side, you can
claim the last word.
Prayer: Lord, strengthen my hands for battle and help me endure until my victory is complete.
Amen.
