zeal without knowledge

Scripture Focus: Exodus 2:11-12
“…he went out unto his brethren… and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew… and he slew
the Egyptian…”
Moses knew he was called to deliver Israel, but his zeal ran ahead of God’s timing and method.
Seeing an Egyptian mistreating an Israelite, he took matters into his own hands and killed the

man. Acts 7 tells us Moses already understood his mission, but without divine direction, his
effort was short-sighted, he could not deliver Israel one Egyptian at a time. Years later, when he
submitted fully to God’s training, he destroyed the Egyptians in a single night without lifting a
sword, as God drowned Pharaoh’s army in the Red Sea.
Purpose alone is not enough, timing and God’s strategy matter. Doing God’s will in your own
strength will only wear you out and achieve little. But when you submit to His process, He
empowers you to do in a moment what human effort could never accomplish in a lifetime. By
strength shall no man prevail; trust His way and His timing.
Prayer: Lord, help me to wait for Your timing and follow Your methods, not my own. Amen.
