Scripture Focus: Exodus 2:15 – “…But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the
land of Midian…”
When Moses fled Egypt, it must have felt like the end of everything he knew. The palace was
gone, the title was gone, the influence was gone. He may have thought his dream of delivering
Israel was over. But God was not finished with him, He was just getting started. Egypt had
trained Moses to be a prince; Midian would train him to be God’s man. In God’s plan, He didn’t
need a big man from the palace, He needed a small man, humble enough to be led.
Midian was a far cry from Egypt’s grandeur. No royal courts, no golden chariots, just wilderness,
sheep, and silence. Yet, it was there that God’s real work began. The same was true for
Joseph: what looked like the end in a slave caravan was actually the beginning of his
preparation. Your detours may feel like delays, but in God’s hands they are divine classrooms.
Until you have been trained by Him, no worldly qualification can prepare you for His work. The
greatest training any man can have is God’s training, it shapes you for assignments you could
never handle in your own strength.
Prayer: Lord, when You lead me into seasons that feel like detours, help me to trust that You
are training me for something greater. Amen.
