God Alone

Scripture Focus: “…and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them.” Exodus 7:5

When God began His works in Egypt, His mission was clear: not just to deliver Israel, but to show the Egyptians that He alone is Lord. Every plague that struck Egypt was a direct blow against their idols. The Nile was their pride, yet when it turned to blood, Hapi, their river god, was powerless. Frogs were a symbol of fertility, yet when they swarmed the land, Heqet, the frog goddess, could do nothing. Darkness swallowed Egypt for three days, and Ra, their revered sun god, was silent. The message was simply that Egypt’s gods were lifeless, but the God of Israel was alive and mighty. This is why idolatry is always the first commandment God warns against: “You shall have no other gods before Me.” (Exodus 20:3).

Today, the battle of gods is not over. Many still bow to wealth, fame, power, or pleasure, making them modern idols. Yet, God remains the same, He will not share His glory with another. He knows how to silence anything that tries to take His place in your life. The plagues remind us that nothing is too strong for Him and no rival can compete with Him. Whatever the world exalts, He can bring down in a moment. Your duty as His child is simple: let Him be first in your life. Don’t put trust in what fades or in what men worship. Anchor yourself in God alone, because when He rises, every other god falls.

Prayer: Lord, help me to live daily in the truth that You alone are God. Let nothing take Your place in my life. Amen.
