A Home That Hosts God’s Presence

Scripture Focus: Genesis 19:2 to 3; Revelation 3:20

The angels eagerly entered Abraham’s home but when they arrived in Sodom they were reluctant to stay in Lot’s house. They preferred to spend the night in the open square rather than take shelter with him. What a contrast. Abraham’s home was a place of divine visitation but Lot’s house was not their preferred dwelling.

Lot insisted and they agreed only for his sake not because his home carried the same welcoming presence as Abraham’s. This is a sobering thought. Does God feel welcome in our homes? Does His presence rest with us or does He only stay because of mercy? A home filled with compromise cannot host the fullness of God’s presence. Like Abraham we must build an atmosphere where God delights to dwell.

Prayer:

Lord let my home be a place where You are welcomed. Help me to live in a way that attracts Your presence and not just Your rescue. Amen.
