Scripture Focus: “Moses said to the Lord, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been
eloquent… I am slow of speech and tongue.’” Exodus 4:10
When God called Moses, his first instinct was to give excuses. He said he couldn’t speak well,
yet Stephen later declared that Moses was “mighty in words and deeds” (Acts 7:22). The truth
wasn’t that Moses lacked ability, it was that he lacked willingness. And here lies the lesson: God
is never limited by our weakness; He is only hindered by our refusal. Throughout their dialogue,
God patiently answered Moses’ objections, but when Moses finally said, “Please send someone
else,” God’s anger burned. Ability was never the issue. Availability was.
As children of God, our lives are not our own. We were placed here by His command, and every
instruction He gives is tied to His greater plan. To claim independence from His call is to step
outside our very reason for existence. Soldiers do not debate with their commander, they obey.
When God calls, He already knows your flaws and fears, but He also knows His strength will be
made perfect in them. Your responsibility is to say, “Here I am, send me.” God can work with
your weakness, but He cannot work with your refusal.
Prayer: Lord, I yield myself to You. Make me always available for Your call, and let nothing in
me resist Your instructions. Amen.
