Scripture Focus:
“Now these things happened to them as examples and were written for our instruction…” 1
Corinthians 10:11
Joseph’s story, stretching from Genesis 37 to 50, covers ninety-three years of his life. It is a
remarkable tale of betrayal, integrity, loss, power, loyalty, and forgiveness. Unlike many Bible
characters, Joseph’s story is free from scandal. Not once does the Bible record a moral failure
or grave mistake in his walk with God. And what makes it even more profound is that he grew
up in a dysfunctional household, brothers filled with envy, a father who played favorites, and a
home riddled with chaos. Still, Joseph rose above all that. He chose to be the example, even
though he never had one.
You may not come from a godly background. You may not have seen integrity modeled before
you. But just like Joseph, you can set a new path. His life reminds us that our environment does
not define our destiny. He was the lesson. He was the example. He was the message. If no one
else in your family is walking with God, let your life be the foundation that others can build upon.
Prayer:
Lord, make me the example my generation needs. Help me rise above my background and live
a life worth following. Amen.
