Scripture Focus: Genesis 12:7; Numbers 13:30
In Genesis 12:7, God promised Abraham, “To your descendants, I will give this land.” This
promise was astounding because Abraham was already in Canaan, a land full of giants and
powerful inhabitants. Yet, despite the challenges and contradictions, Abraham chose to believe
God’s word. To demonstrate his faith, he built an altar to the Lord on the very land God had
promised, signifying his trust in the prophecy. His altar was a declaration of faith, a visible act
showing he believed God would fulfill His word, no matter how impossible it seemed.
Abraham’s faith set a standard for believers, paving the way for others like Joshua and Caleb,
who later stood firm on this same promise. Just like Abraham, we are called to believe God
against all odds. Even when reality doesn’t align with His promises, our assignment is to trust,
obey, and act in faith, knowing that if God has said it, He will do it.
Prayer: Lord, help me respond in faith to Your promises, just as Abraham did. May my actions
reflect unwavering trust in Your word. Amen.
