Believing Against All Odds

Scripture Focus: Genesis 21:1 to 2; Romans 4:18 to 21

Sarah’s pregnancy at 90 years old was medically impossible. By that age, she had long passed menopause, meaning her body no longer produced eggs. Her ovarian reserve was depleted, her uterus had aged, and the hormonal changes necessary for conception were absent. Even if conception had occurred, the risks of genetic mutations and complications would have been overwhelmingly high. Yet, despite all these scientific barriers, Sarah conceived and gave birth to Isaac.

She believed against hope. Abraham “did not waver through unbelief” (Romans 4:20), and Sarah “considered Him faithful who had made the promise” (Hebrews 11:11). Her story proves that God operates beyond human limitations. When He speaks, natural laws submit to His authority. No matter how impossible your situation seems, trust in the God who makes the barren fruitful and brings life where there is none.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to believe even when everything seems impossible. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your promises beyond human understanding. Amen.
