clear conscience

Scripture Focus:
“And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child;
and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.” – Genesis 42:22
Reuben tried to distance himself from guilt when things began to fall apart. He said, “I told you
not to harm him,” but where was that boldness all these years? He never told their father the
truth. He never stood up when it mattered most. Now, he was using regret to appear innocent.
Like Reuben, many believers today give the appearance of righteousness while hiding secret
compromise. They know what is right, their conscience speaks, but they silence it and delay
obedience.
Delayed truth is still deception. If God is nudging your heart to make something right, do it. Don’t
wait for exposure or judgment before you start saying, “I knew I shouldn’t have.” Restitution may
be hard, but it brings peace. Pretending you weren’t part of the sin when you had the power to

speak up or act is spiritual dishonesty. Own your part and make things right. Let your
conscience be clear before God and men.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to stop covering what needs to be confessed. Give me courage to make things
right and live with integrity.
