COVERING WITH LOVE

Scripture Focus: Genesis 9:22-23
In Genesis 9:22-23, Ham saw his father Noah’s nakedness and chose to expose it, but Shem
and Japheth respectfully covered their father without looking at his shame. This story illustrates
two kinds of responses when faced with the weaknesses or failures of others: those who expose
and ridicule, and those who lovingly protect and seek restoration.
The New Testament gives a beautiful example of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. In
Matthew 1:19, Joseph, described as a righteous man, sought to handle Mary’s situation quietly
to protect her dignity. This is the heart of a true believer; choosing love, grace, and restoration
over judgment and exposure. As children of God, we must aim to restore others in love, not
condone sin, but handle matters with wisdom and care to reflect Christ’s love to them.

Prayer: Lord, give me the heart of love and grace, that I may respond to others with kindness
and a desire for restoration. Help me to protect and lift others up, just as You cover me with
Your mercy. Amen.
