Don’t Trivialize Divine Instructions in a Dream

Scripture:
Genesis 31:10–13 – “And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived… the angel of
God spake unto me in a dream…”
All through Scripture, God consistently spoke to people through dreams. He spoke to Jacob in a
dream, guiding him with clear instructions. Joseph (Genesis 37), Pharaoh (Genesis 41),
Solomon (1 Kings 3), Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2), and even Abimelech (Genesis 20) all
received divine messages through dreams. In the New Testament, God also used dreams to
warn Joseph to take Mary and the child to Egypt (Matthew 2:13), and also directed the wise
men (Matthew 2:12).
Dreams are a legitimate channel God uses, and while they’re not the only way He speaks, they
remain important. As believers, we must not trivialize them. Keep a notepad beside your bed.
Train yourself to document dreams immediately, even when they seem vague or confusing.
What looks unclear now may hold answers for your next season. God can give warnings,
confirmations, or directions in the night; pay attention.
Prayer:
Father, help me to discern Your voice even in my sleep. Teach me to value and steward divine
instructions through dreams.
