Don’t Try to Be What Only God Can Be

Scripture Focus: Genesis 30:1 to 2; John 3:27
Rachel, out of deep frustration, cried to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die.” (Genesis 30:1).
It was an emotional plea, driven by longing and pressure. But Jacob responded wisely: “Am I in
God’s stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?” (Genesis 30:2). Though he
loved Rachel deeply, he refused to carry a burden that only God could bear. Jacob teaches us
that love does not mean overstepping our limits or pretending to be God in someone else’s life.
Sometimes people will pressure you out of desperation, fear, or high expectations to make
things happen that are beyond your control. Do not fall into the trap of trying to please them by
forcing results. Even Jesus said, “A man can receive nothing except it be given him from
heaven.” Your role is to point people back to the Source. Be compassionate, but stay honest.

Let your humility protect your peace. When you know something is not in your hands, let them
know it’s in God’s. He alone opens doors, heals wounds, and gives life.
Prayer:
Lord, help me not to carry what only You can handle. Teach me to trust You and direct others to
You alone. Amen.
