FIGHTING FOR YOUR BROTHER

Scripture Focus: Genesis 14:14-16; Galatians 6:2
Abram had already separated from Lot, yet when Lot got into trouble and was taken captive,
Abram did not ignore him. The Bible says that when Abram heard about Lot’s situation, he
immediately gathered his men and went to rescue him (Genesis 14:14-16). Lot may not have
deserved such loyalty, but Abram did not hold past decisions against him, he fought for his
brother.
This is a New Testament behavior reflected in Christ’s command to love unconditionally. As
believers, we are called to support one another, not based on merit but on love. No matter the
situation, we are to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). True love does not abandon a
brother in need; it goes after them, even when they have strayed.
Prayer: Lord, give me a heart like Abram’s—a heart that fights for my brother in times of trouble.
Help me to love as You have commanded. Amen.
