GOD’S MERCY IN WAITING

Scripture Focus: Genesis 5:27
Methuselah, the oldest man recorded in history, lived for 969 years. His name, meaning “when
he dies, judgment will come,” reveals God’s incredible mercy. God delayed judgment for as long
as Methuselah lived, stretching his life to give humanity more time to repent. This demonstrates
God’s patience and His desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2
Peter 3:9).
God’s mercy is unparalleled. He waits, often longer than we deserve, giving us chance after
chance to turn back to Him. Yet, His waiting is not indefinite; judgment will eventually come. Let
us not take His patience for granted but respond to His call with humility and repentance today.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your abundant mercy and patience. Help me to live a life that
pleases You and to lead others to repentance. Amen.
