Hated for Doing Nothing Wrong

Scripture Focus:

“And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated
him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.” Genesis 37:4

Joseph’s only “crime” was being loved more by his father. He didn’t scheme, manipulate, or
brag, he was simply favored. Yet that favor became the reason for hatred. His brothers couldn’t
even speak kindly to him. This teaches us that sometimes, hatred has nothing to do with what
you did, it’s about who you are, the grace you carry, or the attention you receive.

If you ever find yourself hated without cause, don’t be surprised. Jesus experienced the same.
Joseph didn’t ask to be the favorite. Yet his very existence became a threat. But here’s the truth:
when God’s hand is on your life, expect resistance. Still, never let it harden your heart. Joseph
remained upright despite the hatred, proving that you can still walk in love even when
surrounded by envy. Stay gracious. Stay faithful. Stay humble. Let your life speak louder than
their words.

Prayer:
Father, help me not to be bitter when I’m misunderstood or hated. Strengthen me to walk in
love, just like Joseph.
