Judge Yourself First

Scripture Focus:
“When Judah heard it, he said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.” – Genesis 38:24
Judah was ready to burn Tamar for the same sin he had just committed. He didn’t know she
was pregnant by him, yet his judgment was swift and merciless. This is the tragedy of hypocrisy,
condemning others for sins we secretly excuse in ourselves. Judah forgot his own failure and
demanded death for Tamar’s mistake. But God sees all. The log in Judah’s eye blinded him
from the truth about himself.
Before you point fingers, examine your own heart. Are you harsh with others but soft on your
own compromises? Do you preach purity while hiding addiction? Do you shame others for what
you secretly enjoy? Don’t be quick to burn someone else when your robe is stained too. Judge
yourself. Let God purify your heart. Mercy triumphs over judgment, and humility opens the door
to grace.
Prayer:

Lord, expose every hidden sin in my heart. Help me to walk in humility and deal with myself
before correcting others.
