Kill Envy Before It Kills Something in You

Scripture Focus: Genesis 27:41; James 3:14 to 16
Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing he received, and said in his heart, “The days of
mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.” (Genesis 27:41). Envy
had taken root and was now producing deadly thoughts. He believed that hurting Jacob would
satisfy his pain. This mirrors the story of Cain and Abel, Cain also killed his brother out of envy.
Sin left unchecked becomes destructive.
It starts with quiet jealousy but grows into bitterness, hatred, and even violence. When you
begin to imagine harm or revenge, it means envy has matured into something dangerous. It can
make you do what you never thought you were capable of. Before it takes over, take it to God.
Confess it. Starve it. Replace it with love and gratitude. Envy and pride must die, or they will
destroy something in you. Cain and Esau are reminders that sin always grows if you do not stop
it early. Guard your heart now.
Prayer:
Lord, deliver me from envy and pride. Let love rule my heart completely. Amen.
