Know When to Move On

Scripture:
Genesis 30:25 – “And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto
Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.”
Genesis 31:3 – “And the Lord said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy
kindred; and I will be with thee.”
There is a time to serve, to learn, to stay under someone, and a time to leave. You’re not meant
to remain in one season forever. Even though Jacob had been treated unfairly by Laban, he
didn’t just storm out emotionally, he waited until God confirmed it was time to go. The Lord said,
“Return… and I will be with you.” That’s the key: don’t move just because your boss is bad or the
situation is hard. Move because God says it’s time.
I remember a season in my life when I had faithfully served under a man of God. I gave my
best, but I began to sense a stirring. It was tough, emotional, and uncomfortable, but when God
confirmed it, I knew I had to obey. Emotions should never be stronger than instruction. Don’t let
sentiments stop your movement. As one of my pastors used to say: “Destiny is not emotional.”
Wait for the divine cue. Then move with confidence.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to discern Your timing. When it is time to leave, let me not stay out of fear or
emotions. Let me obey You fully in Jesus’ name.
