Scripture Focus: Genesis 24:67; Hebrews 11:9 to 10, 13
When Isaac saw Rebekah, he took her into his mother Sarah’s tent and not a house. That small
detail is loud. Abraham, though extremely wealthy, lived in tents all his life. He never settled into
permanent buildings. Why? Because he lived with an open heart, always ready to move if God
called again. He wasn’t building an empire on earth. He was journeying toward a heavenly
promise. His lifestyle reflected his faith. He didn’t get too comfortable, too attached, or too
rooted in a land God had not yet fulfilled.
This is a powerful call for us today. Don’t build your life so tightly around earthly comforts that
you become too stiff to follow God. Live light. Hold things loosely. Stay mobile in your heart.
Abraham’s tent wasn’t weakness. It was worship. It was a declaration that, “This world is not my
home.” He was a sojourner, walking with God step by step, and teaching his son to do the
same. May we live with that same readiness, comfortable in obedience, not in possessions.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to live with open hands and a willing heart. Teach me not to settle where You’ve
called me to journey through. May my life remain flexible to Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
