Men May Forget

Scripture Focus: Exodus 1:8
“Now there arose a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.”
A new king arose in Egypt who did not know Joseph. One would think that Joseph, who saved
Egypt from famine, preserved its economy, and positioned it as a global power, would never be
forgotten. His name should have been engraved in their history with honour. But in one reign
change, decades of goodwill were erased. It was not that history had vanished; the new king
simply chose to ignore it. This shows how fragile the help of man truly is. In politics, for example,
a shift in leadership can strip away every advantage you once enjoyed, regardless of past
loyalty or service. Favour with man is conditional; favour with God is eternal.
If people could forget Joseph, they can forget you. Let that truth settle deeply. Do not build your
hope on the applause, memory, or gratitude of people. They will fail you, disappoint you, or
simply replace you. But God will never forget. He remains faithful through every season and
leadership change. Live to please Him, expect your reward from Him, and you will never be
shaken when man’s favour fades.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust only in Your unfailing reward, not in the fragile favour of man.
Amen.
