Scripture Focus: Genesis 29:31 to Genesis 30:1; Ecclesiastes 6:9
Leah was unloved, unwanted, and used in a deceptive transaction she never asked for. Her
heart was wounded, her marriage cold, and her position fragile. Yet in the middle of her
rejection, God opened her womb. She gave birth repeatedly, and with each child came a fresh
reminder that God saw her. Her life was not easy, but she had something to hold on to;
evidence that heaven was still with her.
Rachel, on the other hand, was beautiful and deeply loved. She had Jacob’s affection, likely
enjoyed more attention and favor, but she was barren. Her outward blessings could not fill the
emptiness she carried within. This is the reality of life: no one has it all. What you admire in
others often hides a deep struggle you do not see. While you are envying someone’s beauty,
they may be longing for your testimony. Gratitude begins when you stop comparing and start
recognizing what God has already done for you. Look around. Celebrate what you carry while
you trust God to complete the rest. Envy fades when gratitude grows.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to see what You’ve done in my life and be thankful. Teach me to celebrate others
without losing joy in my own journey. Amen.
