Scripture Focus: Genesis 21:19; Ephesians 1:18
Hagar was desperate. Her child was crying, and she had given up hope. She placed him under
a bush and walked away, not wanting to watch him die. Yet, right there, near her, a well of water
already existed. She just could not see it until God opened her eyes. “Then God opened her
eyes and she saw a well of water.” The provision was present all along. The problem was not its
absence; it was her inability to see it.
This is a powerful picture of how many of us live. We pray, we cry, we seek, yet sometimes the
answer is already within reach. Opportunities, resources, connections, open doors, they may be
right around us. But until God opens our eyes, we may remain blind to what He has already
provided. You don’t always need to go far and wide to find what you’re looking for. What you
need might be right beside you. So pray. Ask God to open your eyes, to sharpen your vision, to
help you see His provision in unexpected places.
Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to see what You’ve already placed around me. Help me to stop missing the
wells in my desert. Let my heart be sensitive and my spirit alert to the opportunities You’ve
provided. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
