Scripture Focus: Genesis 49:27
“Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall
divide the spoil.”
Benjamin was Jacob’s youngest son, the last child of his beloved Rachel, and the only son born
after Joseph. Jacob’s love for Benjamin is evident in Scripture; he was unwilling to let him travel
to Egypt (Genesis 42:38), and when Joseph demanded Benjamin’s presence, Jacob’s heart
trembled at the thought of losing him too (Genesis 43:13-14). Yet, when it came to speaking
God’s word over his sons, Jacob did not let affection cloud his accuracy.
Even after years of cherishing Benjamin, Jacob declared a prophetic description that was
intense and unflinching, calling him a ravenous wolf. This was not cruelty, but truth spoken
without bias. It teaches us that genuine prophecy is not swayed by emotion or relationship.
God’s message must remain unaltered, even when it concerns those we love most. To speak
with such clarity requires courage, integrity, and complete submission to God’s voice. True love
does not withhold truth.
Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to speak Your truth in love, without fear, favoritism, or
compromise. Amen.
