purified in your place

Scripture Focus: “Put your hand inside your cloak… it became leprous as snow… now put it
back again, and it was restored like the other flesh.” Exodus 4:6-7
In this second divine sign, God asks Moses to place his hand inside his cloak, then withdraw it,
only to find it suddenly leprous, as white as snow. When Moses returns it, God restores it to full
health. This wasn’t just a miracle for show; it was a message both to Moses and to Israel.
Leprosy (or tzaraath) often symbolised sin, impurity, or separation in biblical context. It
illustrated that the work God called Moses into wasn’t just about delivering others, it was about a
deep inner purification. Moses needed to see first that his own instrument was unclean, that he
had nothing in and of himself to offer. Only when God purified it could he serve as the proper
vessel for divine deliverance.
For you today, God is not only bringing you into purpose fulfillment, to speak, to lead, or to
serve, He is also cleaning what’s in your hand. That thorny habit, that unhealed wound, that
leftover residue of pride or fear, He’s making it holy. True calling is not about what you bring, but
how God refines you as you yield. Let Him purify your “hand” in secret so it can shine in service
for His glory.
Prayer: Lord, let my heart and hands be pure for Your work, not proud or tainted, but fully
surrendered to Your refining. Amen.
