Scripture Focus: Genesis 28:10 to 13; John 1:51
Jacob had spent his early years scheming people. He deceived Esau, tricked Isaac, and went
along with Rebekah’s plans. But now, alone in the wilderness, far from home, he encountered
God for himself. In a dream, he saw a ladder reaching to heaven and heard the voice of the
Lord affirming his purpose. This marked a turning point. It was as though God was saying,
“Enough of your games, now let Me lead.” Jacob’s journey to Laban was not just about
escaping Esau; it was God’s setup for transformation.
God had already declared that Jacob would carry the blessing, but Jacob had tried to fulfill that
promise through human tricks. Now God was calling him to walk by encounter, not
manipulation. The vision of the ladder reminds us that Jesus is the only access to heaven, the
true pathway to purpose. To walk in destiny, you must walk with God. No shortcut, no deceit, no
self-made plan can replace an encounter with the living God. Like Jacob, you may have started
wrong, but God is ready to redirect you. Let Him.
Prayer:
Lord, I surrender my ways. Lead me by encounter, not ambition. Draw me into true purpose with
You. Amen.
