Scripture Focus: Genesis 8:6-12
In Genesis 8, Noah sent out a raven and a dove to check the water levels. The raven never
returned, likely because it found food among the carcasses floating on the waters. But the dove,
unable to find a resting place, returned to the ark (Genesis 8:9). This contrast carries a profound
lesson: the world is not our place of rest.
Like the dove, we must recognize that true rest is found only in God. The comforts and
pleasures of this world may seem inviting, but they are temporary and cannot satisfy the soul.
Returning to the ark symbolizes returning to God, the only source of lasting peace and refuge.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to seek my rest in You alone. Help me not to be distracted by the
fleeting comforts of this world but to remain anchored in Your presence. Amen.
