RETRACING YOUR STEPS

Scripture Focus: Genesis 13:3-4; Revelation 2:5
After his detour to Egypt, Abram realized his mistake and returned to where God had originally
placed him, back to the altar he had first built in Bethel (Genesis 13:3-4). He did not remain in

the place of error; he retraced his steps and realigned with God’s will. This is a crucial lesson for
every believer: when we stray, we must humble ourselves and return to where God wants us to
be.
Many times, pride or fear keeps people from acknowledging their missteps, but God’s mercy is
always available when we repent. Retracing our steps is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom.
When we recognize that we have drifted, the best response is to return to God, rebuild the altar,
and restore our fellowship with Him. Never let shame or stubbornness keep you from coming
back to where God has called you.
Prayer: Lord, give me the humility and wisdom to retrace my steps when I stray. Help me to
always return to the place of Your presence. Amen.
