Scripture Focus: Genesis 23:2 to 4; Isaiah 61:3
The Bible says, “And Abraham rose up from before his dead.” Those words carry strength. After
Sarah died, Abraham wept, he mourned, but he didn’t stay there. He rose up. He honored her
memory, but he didn’t let grief bury him too. He stood, took responsibility, and looked for a place
to lay her to rest, specifically asking for a burial ground out of sight. Not because he didn’t love
her, but because he understood the need to heal and move forward. Sometimes, healing looks
like walking away from where the pain is loudest.
There is nothing wrong with mourning. It’s okay to feel the weight of loss. But you were not
meant to remain in that valley forever. Grief is a season, not a destination. Like Abraham, rise.
Move on, not because you forgot, but because you’re still alive, and God is not done with you.
Let Him comfort you. Let Him strengthen you. You can carry their memory without pausing your
life. There’s more ahead. And with God’s help, you’ll walk through it.
Prayer:
Lord, give me the strength to rise from seasons of sorrow. Heal my heart, comfort me deeply,
and help me embrace the life that still lies ahead. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
