Scripture Focus: Genesis 13:10 to 11; Genesis 19:30 to 38
Lot chose Sodom because it looked prosperous. He moved there for wealth and comfort, but in the end, he lost everything. The very place he thought would bring success became his downfall. Even worse, the moral corruption of Sodom shaped his daughters. Though he escaped with his life, his family carried the influence of that sinful land with them.
This is a warning for those who prioritize material gain over spiritual well-being. What seems like a good opportunity can become a trap if God is not leading the way. A decision made purely for wealth, status, or comfort can cost more than expected—especially for future generations. True prosperity is not found in a place but in the presence of God.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to seek Your will above material gain. Keep me from making decisions that may seem good in the moment but have long-term consequences. Let my choices lead my family closer to You, not away. Amen.
