Scripture Focus: Genesis 13:2; 1 Timothy 6:9-10
Abram became “very rich” (Genesis 13:2), but his wealth came partly from his trip to Egypt,
where God never sent him, and from Pharaoh’s gifts after deception. Lot also prospered, yet his
wealth came through wrong associations. Their success was not a result of obedience, but of
circumstance and compromise.
Not all prosperity is God’s blessing. Earthly riches gained through disobedience can be
deceptive. Many mistake financial increase for divine approval, yet Jesus warned that we
cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24). True wealth is found in obedience. No
matter how tempting riches appear, ensure they are gained in a way that honors God.
Prayer: Lord, help me seek true riches from You and not be deceived by wealth through
compromise. Amen.
