Scripture Focus: “The SACRIFICES of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Psalm 51:17.
The story of Cain and Abel’s offerings isn’t just about what they gave but who they were in God’s eyes. The Bible says, “God accepted Abel and his offering,” and also that “God did not accept Cain and his offering.” Hebrews 11:4 sheds light on this, explaining that Abel’s gift was offered “by faith”, which pleased God, making Abel righteous. This wasn’t merely about the offering itself but the heart and faith of the one giving it.
God seeks offerings from a place of humility, faith, and purity. Without faith, even the grandest gift holds no value. Before you offer anything to God, offer your heart fully to Him. True worship flows from a surrendered and contrite spirit.
Prayer: Father, help me to surrender myself completely to you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
