The One You Love the Most

Scripture Focus: Genesis 22:2; Luke 14:26
Before God asked for Isaac, Abraham had already let go of Ishmael. That alone was painful.
Releasing a son he had raised, laughed with, and loved. But the real test came with Isaac. God
said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac.” This wasn’t just about obedience. It
was about surrendering the one thing Abraham loved the most. In reality, Abraham didn’t lose
one son. He “lost” two. Yet in both moments, he trusted God. What a man. What a heart.

It’s one thing to release what you like. It’s another to surrender what you love. Often, the real
test isn’t about what you’re willing to give up, but who. God doesn’t test us to take from us but to
see if He truly has all of us. The question is never just, “Will you obey?” but “Will you trust Me
with what you treasure?” When you lay everything at His feet, even the precious things, you
don’t walk away empty. You walk away free. And in God’s hands, nothing is ever truly lost.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to surrender what I love most to You. Teach me to trust You with the deepest
parts of my heart, knowing that You are faithful and You never waste my sacrifice. In Jesus’
name. Amen.
