Scripture Focus: “The eye is the LAMP of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” – Matthew 6:22
Eve’s downfall began with her gaze. She saw that the fruit was good for food, desirable, and chose to disobey God. Likewise, David’s lingering gaze on Bathsheba led him into sin. These stories show how powerful our eyes are as gateways to both light and darkness.
In 1 John 2:16, the Bible identifies three core temptations: the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. The lust of the eyes often ignites sinful desires, making it crucial for believers to guard their gaze. When we focus on things that honor God, we allow His light to fill us and illuminate our paths.
Prayer: Father, give me the grace to fix my eyes on what is pure, true, and godly in Jesus’ name. Amen.
