Scripture Focus: Genesis 14:18-19; Matthew 5:9
After Abram’s courageous act of rescuing Lot, something remarkable happened, the King of
Peace, Melchizedek, came to bless him (Genesis 14:18-19). This is no coincidence. Abram had
just demonstrated an extraordinary act of peacemaking by fighting for his brother despite their
separation, and immediately afterward, he received a divine blessing.
God honors those who pursue peace. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the
children of God (Matthew 5:9). When we choose to love and fight for others rather than harbor
offense, we align ourselves with God’s heart. Abram’s story reminds us that peacemakers don’t
just maintain peace, they actively restore it, and in return, they receive heaven’s favor.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be a peacemaker. Let my actions reflect Your love, and may I walk in
the blessing that follows obedience. Amen.
