Scripture Focus: Genesis 5:1 – End
In Genesis 2:17, God warned Adam, “In the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die.”
Genesis 5 confirms this truth with the recurring phrase, “and he died.” Adam’s sin introduced spiritual
death instantly and physical death eventually. Not only did Adam die, but all humanity shared in
this judgment. No one in Genesis surpassed 1,000 years of life because a day to God is like a
thousand years (2 Peter 3:8).
God’s faithfulness to His word is evident: what He speaks, He fulfills. If He warns of judgment,
we should heed His words, for they are not idle; they carry eternal weight. His promises and
warnings remind us to walk in reverence and readiness, knowing His truth never fails.
Prayer: Lord, help me take Your Word seriously and live in obedience to You. May I always trust
in Your faithfulness. Amen.
